To be quite frank, I will not (as apparently you have) allow most popular media outlets scare me into not voting for someone through their ridiculous scare tactics. (Dick Chaney wants to shoot your children!)

See thats the problem all you guys have, or shall I say, conservatives that run the party seem to have this problem. Its a kind of denial as to what the public wants, what they want to hear and how to promote themselves in order to win.

You know, kind of like on the bear threads, when the markets go up they refer to the bulls as "the idiots", etc.

Regarding guns, and Dick Cheney - I am unconcerned about him wanting to shoot my children, particularly since I don't have any children. But I'm still waiting for a good reason for anybody not voting for safety locks on guns, or some of these other measures which are obviously just common sense. There is no denying guns have become a mainstream issue thanks to the million mom march and other very public demonstrations regarding firearms. This is a time for moderation on this issue from the republicans, not extremism if they want to win. If they want to make a statement well thats another matter. That is what republicans have done in the past - they stand on some sort of social podium preaching values that are too extreme and then when they lose they blame the public.
