That was a trick statement <gg>. I'm a student of the history of oversubscribed spin offs with small floats, and have profited from both dbcc/mktw and coms/palm trades during those unique periods. The momo crowd buys the parent company as a surrogate investment since they can't get into the ipo, and then swings attention back to the spinoff once it's traded on the secondary market. Since qcom's spinoff is taking place during the most optimistic quarter of the year, I think the inflated valuation levels will have a reasonable chance of holding.

And of course, there is the JV announcement on Monday. Any guesses what that's all about?

btw, since Lehman Bros. is one of the underwriters, those of us with Fidelity accounts will have access to the ipo.
