My CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS DOS=HIGH,UMB DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\RAMDRIVE.SYS /E 8192 Note: I place stuff in high memory. Note: This environment carries into DOS windows opened under Win98 as well as when I boot to DOS directly. I could achieve the same (Window) result by specifying files to execute in my DOS window shortcut properties. I find DOSKEY useful. Also, Windows appends my path stuff to the current Windows path so I don't need to include the basic path, just the stuff I need to add. Also, in some places, I re-direct command output to NUL ... No pattern to this, just personal preferences. I'm posting my files so people can compare them with theirs, not as a template to copy. Users need to customize these files. Since everyone's needs differ, I'd expect their systems to be quite different too. Hope this makes sense. Cheers, PW. P.S. I don't use my CD, DVD, or ZIP in DOS. I have different CONFIG and AUTOEXEC files on my emergency disks so these resources are available when I need them. P.P.S. The ECHO. command prints a blank line.
