Thanks Maverick, I appreciate the info. I guess it's kind of like monkey-barring your way from one technology to the next until the problems are worked out. While I am running cable now I have my 56K ISP connection as back-up, and I have to use it several times throughout the day when the modem fails. Media One can't figure out why....I've been round and round with those folks. I was hoping that DSL would at least be better in terms of reliability, as I never had problems with my Mindspring connection, but I guess they are not the same animal. Keep us informed on how you like your new connection and thanks for the insight.
Julie

Maverick and Julie,

Have been lurking here a long time and this is my 2 cents on dsl.

Had it installed in April. Took the guy two hours and I have not had a problem since. He told me I was on the fringe, being I almost lived to far to qualify for dsl. There is now a waiting list of two months in Tulsa for dsl. I have yet to have any problems and have never been knocked off. My dad has cable in OKC and is knocked off at least twice a week or more, so you never know. He will install a dsl line as soon as it becomes available in his area. Just another point of view, or maybe it is too sleepy in the midwest :)
