Dear roger/JC: I wish you fellows would consult with me first before buying a "pretend" SUV. The Lexus is NOT an off road vehicle. Heck, I think its built on a CAMRY chassis. For a lot less money you could have had a real SUV (Jeep Grand Cherokee). May not have the snob appeal but it will take you there and bring you back. Incidentally, I ordered a Wrangler Sahara with all the offroad upgrades including even an 8,000# winch for my adventures. I also have a Grand Cherokee. JDN

It's weird, but I find that the more easily I can afford a fancy car, the less I want one.

Dear JCJ: It's nice to see someone willingly admit that he (or she) is not a good driver.

My dream car is a long wheel base, manual, diesel Land Rover. They have aluminum bodies and, according to mechanics in 3rd world countries, are VERY easy to work on and can be kept on the road forever. I have never seen one in the USA.

Oh, they are not very attractive but I like the suspension *and* should I find a fresh road kill, more suitable for slinging the deer on the roof than something like a Land Cruiser or Cherokee [JDN's scratch issue] ;)

Alas, I shall never buy one because it would not meet one very important criteria: ease of getting spare parts.

Regards,

Lynn
