Xeno, I am saying that because when I listened to the conf call following the May 1 announcement of the EXCA./INTC merger, one of the analysts asked..'What is the name of this new company?'. Intel management responded that they had not named it yet, leading me to believe that they were in a new brand creation process.

So, while it is certainly possible that PassEdge is part of that new organization, I continue to speculate that the new company will have a different name. So, maybe we are both right?

Also, in re-reading the merger press release I came across this soundbite , which I believes summarizes the new value proposition of the company:

From INTC/EXCA announcement May 1:
"Today compatible technologies and business models do not exist from one company in a fully integrated way that enable branded, valuable content to be delivered to subscribers over the Internet. The new company will seek to solve this problem by combining EXCA market leading content management technologies for producing valuable media archives with Intel's patented technology for content protection. This will enable new business models, such as subscription services, and provide consumers access to a new class of branded interactive content never before seen one the Internet--such as old newsreels, films, sports highlights, and television programs. "

IMO, Intel is using their gorilla power as a semiconductor enabler deep down in the value chain, and entering a new market at the top of the value chain, application software. This is INCREDIBLY interesting because by entering the software application layer INTC can directly stimulate customer power, and thus accelerate the precipitation of the new new tornado. Because INTC has a gorilla position at a deeper layer, they can leverage that position to give their new company (in a higher layer of the value chain) quite a phenomenal advantage.

FYI--the value chain looks like this (from top to bottom):

Application Software <----Intel/EXCA entering this market
|
Systems software
|
Hardware
|
Semiconductors <------- Intel is the enablingtech gorilla
|
Electricity

Likewise, this is a company and a market NOT to be ignored. This is a MUST OWN company for anybody playing the Gorilla Game.
