Steve - Re: "Point me to an article written by Reuters, or EBN or other professional trade publications were the journalist refers to Intel's headquarters (i.e. Intel) as "satan". I can see how we here on this thread take certain liberties with names, but this is ridiculous, IMHO."

Excellent, EXCELLENT POINT !!!

Tom PabstSmear has shown himself AGAIN to be a raving lunatic.

First, if he had a problem with the 1.13 GHz P3, he should have resolved it with Intel in a professional manner - and then related that issue during a proper review once his problems were resolved.

Did he?

No.

He immediately hopped on the Internet and issued a SMEAR and BLAST campaign at Intel.

And then he expected Intel to politely CALL HIM !!

In his second article, he admits he was completley wrong about the Microcode issue he raised in the first article - again, showing himself to be a cheap opportunist looking to promote himself at Intel's expense.

Tom Pabst is as phoney as they come.

We've seen his type before - and what they try to get away with.

Paul

Theregister.uk :) :)

And of course, the messenger is guilty of Piii 1.13GH
problems with 62 C junction T and 1.80V at
20um oxide. Shoot him, eh right!

P.S.: Especially I like the spec: Max T cover = 70
while Tjunction=62. Intel has decided to defy
the law of physics. Interesting... :)

P.P.S I wonder if Tom tried the BURNP6 program
on his P-iii-1.13G?

Steve,

The Register has been using the term "Satan Clara" for some time.

European humor is a little different from American humor, and it might not be fair to judge English and Germans based on American standards. I doubt that Monty Python could have originated in this country.

Steve,

Interesting that your post about Satan Clara ended in the numbers 666.

Kind of weird, huh?

Re: "Why would Intel even bother with a person who purposely ( he did it more than once ) defames the location of its headquarters. This is very unprofessional. He later calls himself a journalist:"

Well, I guess if Intel also felt that way, they shouldn't have provided him with a sample. Right? Regarding professional journalism, I have found that the only thing you can be sure to be correct in most "technical" articles is the spelling of the author's name. I think Tom is "technically" competent. That's FAR more important to me. I can usually detect bias and will try to discount its effect. But if I can't, it's probably because I'm biased as well. How about you??
