>>Good grief, now this got me going - please let's not give excuses to that old sexist expression. Come on folks.<<

Amy-

Lighten up a little. The reason the saying is so demonstrative is that it is offensive. It was offensive to me the first time I heard it. That is the whole point. If it weren't offensive, the whole object, which is to put the answerer in an impossible position, would be lost. "When did you stop eating vanilla ice cream?" just doesn't convey the same idea.

Regards,

Frank

Come on Amy. Save the condemnation for a real issue.

Hi Amy J; Re sexist (and worse) expressions...

Sorry for offending you with the reference to dirt naps. Among the engineers I hang with, "getting a couple inches closer to a dirt nap" is a colorful way of saying "getting older".

Please accept my apologies. (Don't worry about Paul, he has me on ignore.)

Amy - Re: "- How many VPs at Intel are female? (1, 2, 3,...?) "

As of mid 1999 (the date of the 1998 Annual report), Intel had EIGHT female VPs listed by my count.

Just for reference - what percentage of the graduating Engineering classes - BS, MS and PhD - over the past few years were female (overall US combined) ?

Amy-re:"How many VPs at Intel are female? (1, 2, 3,...?)"

Maybe they just hire the smartest people regardless of their sex. Recently read that men do have slightly bigger brains than females. Might be part of the reason most inventions and great thinking came from men. Sorry to cast some doubt on your sexism conspiracy. Just the facts ma'am.

I know what you're thinking... I must have got one of those little female brains.<g>
