OT - Amy - Is there some sort of virtue in having a working wife? I have one but wish neither of us were working. Where does that leave me?

Hi Frank, RE: "Lighten up a little."

I apologize you were the recipient of my post which more or less was my annoyance that a CEO of a high-tech company could still (in this day and age) say something like that and thus, indirectly sends subtle messages (via lack of awareness) into the perpetuation of an attitude that possibly contributes to a lack of gender diversity within a corporate culture.

RE: "It was offensive to me the first time I heard it. That is the whole point. "When did you stop eating vanilla ice cream?" just doesn't convey the same idea."

Barrett's a smart guy - he should be able to come up with something creative that effectively gets the point across, in order to avoid using an out-dated phrase, so it doesn't target a specific people or gender. Did Maria laugh when Barrett said that in his interview? No.

"When did you stop robbing the bank?" conveys the same idea, yet, doesn't target a human being.

Kindest regards,
Amy J
