That's what I see too. Especially being underestimated because of the unpretentiousness. I think the press has really underestimated his personal grit and inner strength.

BTW, I'm one of those people who believe you can make a very good assessment of a person's strengths and weaknesses by watching their "mate" selection. Laura Bush appears to be a strong and exemplary individual, imo. Apparently GW recognized her positive traits and wasted no time attracting and holding her attention. <gg>

Neocon: Did you read "Truman" by McCullogh? A marvelous book. I did not agree with many of Trumans domestic policies but he had honor and integrity which is most important.
