62 RTQ. Charming. 8.4M shares so far.

Kash, if Toni emails me and says, "there is no fundamental reason for the stock performance," can I sue (and win) if horrible news breaks within days of the email?

Doug

SSB:Athlon is selling well
Excerpts fr SSB's The Semii Beat, 7/31:
AMD continues its transition from the classic Athlon to the Duron /
Thunderbird platforms. The standard Athlon systems are selling well but the
price premium of the associated motherboard has cooled over the past several
weeks.

Component suppliers into to PC market are all expecting a double-digit pickup
in the market in both Q3 and Q4, with most of the ramp beginning in August.
For example, Integrated Circuit Systems (ICST---20 1/16, NR), who has 70%
share of the clocks going into personal computers, is looking for a strong
leg up, beginning by mid-August. Most of the strength is expected to come
from a post-Y2K rebound in U.S. and Europe corporate markets, while Asia Pac
and Japan continues to be very strong. According to our PC analyst, Richard
Gardner, Compaq outlined a bullish PC forecast for the second half of the
year citing corporate transistions to W2K would begin in 2H. Also, at its
analyst meeting on Thursday, Microsoft suggested that the W2K Service Pack
One (to be released on Aug 1st) may cause an acceleration in PC upgrades,
which would also be positive for PC demand.

Kash re <<I think something stinks at 1 amd place.>>

Hmmm...

Well, something is clearly not "normal" today! We have not had such big volume in a "non news" day for a very long time. Big sell off, no question about it. And there is a reason for it. I hope it has to do with the tender offer or something in that line.

Kash, The institutes were very quit today, mostly buying.
It must have something to do with these $400 million of
"11 percent Senior Secured Notes" How is AMD going to pay
all this money? (Q1+Q2 profit together is just enough).

Are these shares or is AMD paying off debt?

Regards, Hans.

Kash,

I can see a $50 price on bad news and some folks on margin etc could lose their shirts.

The shirt is gone, and I'm loosening the belt as I expect the pants to go tomorrow.

Pravin.
BTW, why would it take bad news to take AMD down further, when good news is all that is required.
