cash would definitely be good in a deflation...real estate as such may be risky due to prices probably being under pressure, so one would have to carefully differentiate between the various types of REITs. high yields, if dependable, will of course be sought after.

the Japanese deflation experience resulted in govt. bonds turning out to be the best investment class.
