Hello Ann. your latest message to me got lost somehow. I just went through my trash to look for something and found this message. You posted so close together that I thought I was wiping out an old message, I guess.

Ann. I did not get a new ISP. When I came back from my mini vacation, I was out of ISP hours. My son and visiting grandchildren used up my available hours and I didn't feel like spending extra money for more hours. Even after my ISP scrapped unlimited use, I never fell short before.
I have ordered DSL from my ISP. It is supposed to be delivered middle of this month. They will be sending a kit in the mail. I sure hope I can get this task of connecting established. A TECHIE I AM NOT. gg.

WCOM is def. acting crappy. Most of my paper profits over the last 3 years in that stock are def. going down the drain any minute now. So much for long term holding.

Your LU is def. not acting well either.

About the presidential race. We'll see. Give me the Rep view over a Dem view any day. I am somehow more for capitalism than socialism. If it were not for business we would not have this nice economy. Clinton/Gore may want to take most of the credit for this (after all, Gore invented the internet) but a Rep Congress and business deserve the biggest credit for this wonderful economy. Yeah, they are harping on former Pres. Bush's record. But do not forget. It was a Dem Congress and little, that helps business and the economy, gets accomplished then. Congress under Republicans spend less and give some money back where it belongs. To tax payers.
The biggest boom of this latest stock market rise took place under a Rep Congress in the last 4 yrs.

Mr. Lieberman was going along with some good programs the Reps put out.
Part of Soc.Sec. privatization for better gains, just like GVT does. Since Lieberman became Mr. Gore's running mate he calls this a skeem. (He said this at a speech on Monday? in front of one of the Unions) He did not say this before. So he is already starting to waffle. And Gore will see to it that he forgoes the rest.

He was for tort reform. Against trial lawyers. He received nice insurance contributions for his run for the Sen. in Connecticut. Let's see what his stance will be now.

He talked for school vouchers. He is already toning that down even though he did say in the past that this will have to happen.

He voted with the Reps on the Gulf war. But will probably talk against strengthening the military now.

He was against affirmative actions. Let's see how he gets out of this. Orthodox Jews are against quotas because they suffered some under those originally.

He also voted for Cap gains tax. But cutting taxes is a skeem for the rich according to Gore. So that will be challenged now under Gore/Lieberman. You will probably receive a tax cut under Gore/Lieberman if you don't work or don't pay much taxes . So give me Bush/Cheney.

I could go on. He has been a bit more moderate than Gore in the past I thought. But Bob Novak of Crossfire noted in the Washington Post this morning that Lieberman talks the talk of a moderate, but walks the walk of a liberal.

So, whatever you say. Pl. don't say that the Reps are the same as the Dems. I only admit that the Dems are using some of the Reps issues because they know that's where the public stands. Less GVT. Gore has mentioned that GVT is the smallest under the Clinton'Gore administration. Yeah, under a Rep Congress.
They are also taking credit for welfare reform.
It took sev. vetoes before Pres. Clinton finally signed on to that. And now, of course, it was their doing that the welfare rolls have declined and people are feeling better about themselves. Self efficiency always feels better than dependency. But again. Let's not credit the Dems for that. If it was not for the Reps, the welfare rolls would still be bulging.

Now. You are married. Do you like the marriage penalty? A deduction helps families under 50,000 and gives families with stay at home moms a break. This bill would recognize that stay at home moms also work. But today that seems to be a dirty word. The latter will def. give those families a tax break and hence, more income. But Clinton/Gore call this a skeem for the rich. And Gore goes along with that. And Lieberman now says: I am backing Gore's platform.
I don't believe that marriage and stay at home moms should be penalized. Let's be for marriage. That is the backbone of our society and that's what produces the kids of tomorrow. Hopefully.

So I go along with what Mr. Novak said about Al Gore's good choice of a running mate: He talks the talk of a moderate, but walks the walk of a liberal.

Let me rephrase this a bit. He walked some of the above issues before but now, as running mate of Al Gore, he will only talk them. After all, nominee for Vice President sounds great, so you better tow the line.
