Now. You are married. Do you like the marriage penalty? A deduction helps families under 50,000 and gives families with stay at home moms a break. This bill would recognize that stay at home moms also work. But today that seems to be a dirty word. The latter will def. give those families a tax break and hence, more income.

While I agree with most of what you said and believe that it is unconscionable that the government wants to spend the "surplus" (if it actually exists) instead of not robbing the extra money it doesn't need from us in the first place, we have to be fair here.

There is no marriage penalty for a couple with uneven incomes, only for couples with similar incomes. My wife is a stay-at-home mother and we have no marriage penalty but instead probably have a marriage bonus. (I would still like a tax cut, though.)

Plus, part of the Marriage Penalty relief was a rate threshold change, but the other part was an increase in the standard exemption (not a deduction). The former will help everyone but the latter will only help lower-income people, because the standard exemption is phased out for higher incomes and anyone in the "middle class" or the "lower-upper-class" with a mortgage is almost guaranteed to do better filing Schedule A.

At least this is the way it was the last time I heard about it.

Sonny,

All answer the rest later. But The ADSL caught my eye. That WILL be great for you. BUTTTTTT. Please tell me you are installing some firewall software!!! If not get to best buy (or the net) and get some. You don't want any script kiddies getting at your system!!

I know your not a techie but I think you know what a firewall is. It keeps the rif raf out of your system. That's the last thing you need is someone to hack into your system. Please feel free to PM me if you need some help with this one.

I'll answer the rest of your post tomorrow.

Yack at ya later!!

Take Care

Ann

Folks, VIRUS ALERT. Update: Sorry this appears to be a Hoax E-mail. But I try to let you know about these things because Some of HAVE been Bitten!! AJ

I just receive this and this is one of the best ways I know of to alert all my friends.

1. There is a new virus - WOBBLER. It will arrive
on e-mail titled CALIFORNIA. IBM and AOL have announced
that it is very powerful, more so than Melissa, there is no remedy. It will eat all your information on the hard drive and also destroys Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Do not open anything with this title and
please pass this message on to all your contacts and
anyone who uses your e-mail facility. Not many people seem to know about this yet so propagate it as fast as possible.

*2. If you receive an e-mail titled "Win A. Holiday" DO NOT open it. It will erase everything on your hard drive.
Forward this letter to as many people as you can. This is a
new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. This information was announced yesterday from Microsoft.

So if you aren't updating your anti-virus software you'd better do it now.

I'll answer the rest of your post in a few minutes Sonny, I just wanted to get this out here.

Ann

Sonny,

Ok, I'll finally get you answered.

I hope I don't offend anyone but flame me if you will. Please educate me if I have a perception of the rules/laws.

I understand your more for the Rep than the Dems. I would be too since I really agree with most of what they say. The problem I have is that they now seem to be so ultra ultra conservative. When did the republican platform start being run by the far right?? Or what I would see as the 'christen collation' or the 'church'. Why should I have to decide my candidate by his/her views on abortion?? That's what bothers me the most. Do you honestly care about the religion of the VP or Pres??? Does it really matter??? NO!! I don't care if the man worships Satan or the Redwood Tree. If he can do his job then his spiritual views don't matter.

I'm not for big government (socialism). Every politician is going to say exactly what they think the people want to hear. The key has got to be cooperation with the congress.

These days the president is really a figure head. Yes He has the key to the 'BUTTON' but his ideas have to get through congress period. Yes, I know there are the executive orders but the congress can always undo those if they choose.. Can't they??

Yes, If it were not for business we would not have this wonderful economy. But please refresh my memory. Who Signed Nafta?? Yes, Clinton, but Who proposed it?? We are still hearing a huge sucking sound from down south. Ok, maybe not everyone has lost their good manufacturing jobs... Yet!

journalstar.com

use edit->find (on this page) search for SQUARE D or Lincoln, Neb

library.northernlight.com

Of Course Liberman is now going along with his potential new Boss. Wouldn't you too, if you were in his shoes?? <ggg> I'm against quotes and school vouchers too. Let the best person get the job and fix the existing problems with the public schools. I think we will also start seeing more and more reverse discrimination suits due to quota's.

No one likes Marriage Penalty. And If I would have realized it was going to screw me so bad I'd be living in sin right now. <GGG> The Deduction for families under 50K is a nice start but anymore 50K isn't squat. Try living in San Jose on that. For Lincoln that's excellent money. Yes Women do work, weather at home or not. It's just us working women are expected to do 2x as much. The same as a stay at home mom plus the 40+ hours a week we put in away from home. Someone give me a deduction for that!!! Oh, sure I could stay at home but we would be living in a trailer park. Sorry, very very sore subject with me. Also my kids Godfather quit his job and is staying home with the 2 kids and 1 on the way.

I'll give you a bit of background on another reason I am down on the republicans. When I was 18, I should have been eligible for my mom Social Security. But Since Reagan signed the law reducing minors rights from 21 down to 18 I was hosed. Along with another orphan friend of mine. Well I'm sure you all know by now I am a very resourceful person. I didn't have to quit college (full grants for poor people, actually an excellent idea) but I did go through a few tough years. Try living on $6 a month after rent and utilities. You do what you have to do and go with out. Also they let all the crazies out of the mental hospitals. That changed our town/city forever. We never had a homeless problem before then. You didn't see bums sleeping on park benches or in alleys downtown.

So I could be in that trailer park with my 5 kids collecting welfare. But I'm not thanks to at least one good social program, PELL and the student Loan program. If socialism is helping people help themselves then I'm all for it. But I'm not for a welfare state where everyone thinks the world owes them something. Oh course I'm all for capitalism!! It's what got me where I am today. You get out what you put in!!!

Well I hope I didn't babble there too much!! <GGG>

You have an excellent evening. Sorry to be so scarce but I've taken on another department, so I'm even busier than before.

Take Care

Ann
