I don't think there are any TBirds below 700 MHz, so the cheap Athlons you see at 650 and below are old ones they're trying to get rid of.

A 99$ retail ($75 to AMD?) Duron 600 makes twice as much money for AMD as a K6-2-550 for which AMD probably gets $50 to $55.

I agree that a $159 Duron 700 is unsellable next to a $179 Athlon 700.
