Paul,

Aso in the SIA report:

In addition to semiconductor products used to fuel the communications revolution, the DRAM and Microprocessor markets, commonly found in personal computers, also exhibited significant growth from last year. In June 2000, the DRAM market grew 75%, while the microprocessor market grew 36%.

36% YOY June, and it appears that Intel will own the value end of the market in the 3rd quarter at least, capturing share. Unless demand has changed dramatically since June, the 3rd quarter should be very good.

Do you have any idea how long the new stepping will take to implement across most ot the microprocessor production? That could be one of the keys to a huge 4th quarter.

John

Paul Engel. Re: "Maybe this is why Intel can't keep up with demand." Good point. I liked this part best:

In addition to semiconductor products used to fuel the communications revolution, the DRAM and Microprocessor markets, commonly found in personal computers, also exhibited significant growth from last year. In June 2000, the DRAM market grew 75%, while the microprocessor market grew 36%.

I hate to sound like a broken record but Barrett's announced 20% growth rate sounds too conservative, by a wide margin.
