How can you be a fighter pilot in the National guard when the National Guard is only on guard......he was a pilot but never saw any combat......he never shot at or attacked anything while in the guard......as far as his drinking addiction, it has been well documented, read the Parade magazine last Sunday...........come on, you got to keep up with the current news or you'll become a byproduct of the X generation.

pilot in the National Guard at a time when he could not have known he would not be called up
He specialized in a plane which had no support facilities in Vietnam. His worst case scenario was being called to serve in Germany.
