Neo, your ideation is a perfect illustration of the kind of fear we've been discussing. People lose, quit, or are fired from their jobs everyday, and it is relatively rare that heads go underwater.

Most people are back in the saddle within a couple of months, and look back saying "That was a little rough, but we pulled together and made it" They might even be a little better for it--it helped them reprioritize their lives--allowed them to examine what's important to them.

But look at the gothic canvas our fearful imagination paints: We'll die! We'll be doomed! We'll be eating Chef Boyardee 7 nights a week! I'll have to take the night shift at the 7-11 and my former co-workers will come in and laugh at me!

And it's all an illusion. The fear is nearly always greater than the reality. People are tough.Families are tough. We pick up the pieces and go on--usually to higher ground.
