Technology Shares Advance;
3Com Makes Case for Itself

By DANIELLE SESSA
WSJ.COM

"One of the week's most active stocks has been 3Com. The networking
company has climbed over 30% this week as the company hit the road to
talk to investors about the outlook for the company."...

..."The stock had been in the penalty box for quite a while and like other
stocks that get in the penalty box, if you look at them, the negative reaction
to the stock had been overdone
," said Paul Sagawa, an analyst with Stanford C. Bernstein & Co."...

... "In a sense, 3Com has rebooted. Even though it reported a large loss for its fiscal fourth quarter ended June 2, it said growth would resume in the
coming months."...

... "My guidance is that it's the kind of stock you may have to wait for," said
Mr. Sagawa, who estimates the stock is worth $30. "

sagawa did go on to say that until the company begins to make a profit, it's possible that it may stall.

Glenn:

I lightened up on both COMS and COMS options with COMS between $17.625 and $18 yesterday. Still have a chunk of both, but trying to stick to the game plan.

PALM bottom fishing? IMO you just need to get on board. PALM will never see the $20's again unless they have a serious stumble. Forget the chart from IPO through final spin off, too many factors involved to get a read on the future just from the past action.

PALM's future is wide open and theirs for the grabbing. With its revenue growth rate and a QCOM type multiple of around 15xrevs, PALM could easily be $55 right now, and $100+ inside a year. It's a rare opportunity to grab a piece of what I predict will be "must own" Fortune 100 company a few years from now, at the bargain IPO price of around $38.

I've tucked my tidied up little pile of PALM away under the mattress, and with a cost basis under $30 (zero if I back out the COMSV and option profits) I'm not going to worry about it until several 2:1 stock splits from now....

All JMO of course, and of course my crystal ball is no better than anyone else's.
