tax money is being spent for schools in other states
Most of the federal money that is spent for "education" goes for the lunch program. Like more programs there is a lot more going on than just feeding kids (it's one of the mechanisms for farm price supports for instance). All in all it's not a bad idea even if it does involve defining Ketchup as a vegetable on other silly things.
