RE:There was a lengthy article in the WSJ a few weeks ago about these games the brokerages play. When they have a big client with a big sell in house they upgrade them. Fact!!! Not conjecture...pure fact. It is played out every day but people actually seem to be catching on as I notice they have not been as successful recently as they were a few years ago.

It would be very interesting to see a report of the "professional" recommendations (to the public) and their performance over time. If there is not such a web site, maybe it would be a good opportunity for someone.

If there is accountability for the predictions maybe they will get better at it, or at least the better ones will rise to the top.

Whenever I see a "talking head" on TV giving his opinion on a stock, I remember a TV program some time back that arranged a stock picking contest between one of the analysts, a 5th grade class, and a monkey. After 6 months the analyst was in last place, he said it was because of the short time period so they gave it 6 more months and he still lost
