ot: Everybody thinks Jobs is a hero. I seem to recall they were on the verge of bankruptcy until MSFT infused them with cash. That part of the story always seems to be conveniently forgotten.knc

No one could have replaced Jobs, he was a creative influence who defined their entire one horse business strategy.

LU is a diversified conglomerate with many divisions in many different markets. The people who run the conglomerates of America are not creative influences, they are strictly business oriented, and the product can be widgets or warplanes.

Creativity deserves huge compensation because it is unique. Doing what corporate executives do is not unique, and its not creative, and it is done with teamwork. No individual in a team should be so disproportionately compensated.

Here's a thought: they get huge compensation because they act as celebrity representatives for their corporation. Kind of like movie stars for LU to hold up for the public to adore. Cheap advertising? Maybe we can auction off their dirty socks and underwear to the adoring public (one way to add value...).
