I am trying to see what factual analysis has led you to that conclusion.

The chart is the "facts". The charts are the "Money Trail". That is all the facts required. Analysts can say what they want and fundamentalists can say what they want but the money trail (chart) tells the truth about where the money is going. Fundamentals did not get the internets to the levels they reached. Money got them there and the charts tell the story very well. Technical Analysis deals with human emotions and mathmetical probabilities. The fact is that human emotion caused that gap as it causes all gaps. The mathmetical probability is that it will fill that gap.

"Usually gap filling results from a stock having a runup that is overdone....too far, too fast."

I am afraid I have to disagree with you on that one. Gaps have nothing to do with RUNUPS in the context you are using. Gaps are caused when the buyers are overly excited or overly depressed. :-))

I think that "IF" you are "Really" interested in TA it would help for you to find some basic books on TA and learn what it is about. I recommend O'Neils book(O'Neils as in Investors Business Daily) and Dr Elders has a great book on technical analysis along with other references.
