To ALL: Very important clarification on "supporting one's opinion:"

Of course, all of us are going to gravitate towards data and opinions that match our viewpoints, and we will tend to dismiss viewpoints that don't match ours.

However, it can be carried to an extreme - "I am right, the market is wrong, all dissenting opinion is wrong." This attitude dooms one towards inferior returns in the market.

I got rid of this attitude several years ago. Here's my proof:

(1) I have said on numerous occasions the data and opinions pushing the bullish scenario is very compelling, enough so that I backpedaled and believe there is a small chance that this scenario will materialize. In other words, I listened to the opposite side and subsequently revised my viewpoint.

(2) Investors are concerned about the falling BTB ratio. Yet I was the first (even before Gottfried) to point out that the BTB seems to drop every summer and does not affect the overall cycle.

In other words, my post supports the opposing viewpoint, but I am open minded and objective enough to post it.

Obviously, the vast majority of my posts are going to support my opinion. But I learned long ago to keep an open mind to opposing viewpoints.

That important step led to a tremendous improvement in my portfolio performance.

Scott: Have you, or anyone else on this thread for that matter, ever said, "You know, RD, you might be right on this point." Have you, or anyone else on this thread EVER posted data that supported an opposing viewpoint.

No and No. Most of you have the "I am right, the market is wrong, all dissenting opinion is wrong" mentality.

Ironically, just about everything I have predicted has come true so far. Your unwillingness to consider a dissenting viewpoint cost you all a lot of money.

One final example. When things were going well, everyone was crowing about all the BUY recommendations the analysts had out. Scott J. said analysts were more useful than insider sells.

Now, almost all the analysts have downgraded KLIC (meaning SELL). However, you all seem to be ignoring the vaunted analysts now. Scott's recent purchase flies in the face of advice from his beloved analysts, right?

In other words, when the analysts were on your side, they were great. Now that they are on the other side...well, let's just ignore them, they're wrong. Do you see my point?
