Very interesting. Your statement leads me to ask you a few questions; Are you a happy person? Happy with your life.
Are you a successful person? Financially successful? Happily married? Where did you get your information about the personal values of Franklin and Jefferson? (an aside, Franklyn is Franklin) If those who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ are right they will have a wonderful afterlife in Heaven. If they are wrong they will have lived a very good life. If you are right then you will cease to exist at some point. If you are wrong you may have a big problem. However, reading between the lines I wonder if you are really enjoying this life.

<<Once again the republican party wheels out the "One Nation under a Christian God" inflection , with mentions of Ben Franklyn, Thomas Jefferson , >>

Geeze Vern, The Clinton Gore started started their bus ride in '92 from Monticello. Looking at a bust in Jefferson's home Gore asks who's that. Clinton says he'll ask someone.

It's Franklin Vern.

Once again,listen up children.....

Once again the republican party wheels out the "One Nation under a Christian God" inflection

This nation was and is founded on One Nation under God. And the overwhelming majority of the founders were believers in Christ. Get OVER it.

((did you know gore went to church and prayed this morning??)) news said so........guess you won't be voting for him huh???

bowed their heads and prayed for his soul

Praise God. you ignorance and arrogance are hanging out

In Franklyn's case you have a professed non-believer in the idea that Jesus was the son of god, which IHO , he did not believe was true

Franklins quotes to various folks::

in a small book he carried with him all time was a list of 13 virtues that he had chosen his lifetime goals:
1. Temperance...drink not to elevation
2. Silence......avoid trifling conversation
3. Order..Let all your things have their places
4. resolution...(((so on down to the last two))
.
12. Chastity.
13Humility..Imitate Jesus

Franklin founded the Pennsylvania Hospital. On the cornerstone Franklin composed this message:

In the year of Christ,1755:....this building, by the bounty of the Government and of many private persons, was piously founded, for the relief of the sick and miserable. May the God of mercies bless the undertaking!

In a letter to the French ministry, Franklin wrote:

Whoever shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity will change the face of the world.

BEN FRANKLIN DID NOT LIKE TRADITION THAT MAN HAD MADE OUT OF PURE AND SIMPLE RELIGION...you mistake that to think he did not believe.

And with so many others, I have no time to type them all..YOU live in a country FREE to worship BECAUSE of Christians idea to not have a state church...NOT in spite of Christians. You are blind to think anything else. It is NOT rocket science.

I am not a Christian. Deism is religion enough for my basic point.......
