This reminded of something Standard Oil supposedly did in the 19th century in China...They pulled into port with a giant tanker of kerosene, expecting to easily sell it to the massive populous. The only problem was...it turned out that the Chinese had absolutely no need for it. So Standard Oil began to give away kerosene lanterns...and the Chinese loved them...a free convenient, portable source of light. But when they started running out of kerosene... guess who was right there to "fill em' up" ?!!! The point is...I think a great marketing plan for QCOM would be to give away (or heavily subsidize) wireless CDMA modems for the laptop industry. Imagine 10,000,000 laptops out there with wireless modems...the telcos would be falling all over themselves to sign up with QCOM. td
