Eisenhower sent a small detachment of advisors to Viet Nam. The assisstance was elevated into a full scale war by Kennedy, and Johnson. Nixon got us out of the war.

Now, who are your right wing gung-ho radicals?? Kennedy and Johnson, from your point of view. ~H~

Actually, it is perfectly possible that had Goldwater won, the war would have been over sooner, because he was determined to press for a North Vietnamese surrender. It is clear that, as conducted, it was not worth much. Interestingly, MacArthur opposed any involvement. Heck, Del, Kennedy and Johnson conducted the thing. Blame them.........
