I was not aware of the Pottsdam Agreement of 1945. And while it wasn't technically a division of the country, of course when different governments occupy different pieces of the same territory they are going to come out different in the end, just look at East and West Germany. Still, from my perspective, even the facts you cite are complex, and subject to different interpretations. Found this site, think it's pretty good:
