Cirruslvr,

<What I find funny about this stock drop is that we all knew the infrastructure problems were there, and we all (except Kash) didn't sell the stock in the 70s-80s, but many of us have stock from the teens and twenties. Meaning many people bought near the bottom, but didn't catch the top, or were even close to it. Denial perhaps? >

As much as we saw the infrastructure problem developing, I don't think anyone could have fathomed how skeptical the street is of AMD. I don't think there is single technology stock out there that has over a dollar in quarterly earnings and trades at sub-$60! I have said more that anyone else that this management is terrible at communicating with investors but even accounting for that, this price is a joke.

I should say this has been one heck of learning experience for me. I have been watching this slide in amazement (and pain because most of my portfolio is in semis and on an average day last couple of weeks almost all these stocks show up in red). One has to wonder what the people who are selling AMD at this level are thinking. I shake my head in disbelief. Less than 10x forward PE and 2x forward sales! Sometime you get better than this at the bottom of the semiconductor cycle! And this company has a strong product lineup - better than at any point in its history.

<If the time ever comes, I don't think this thread will ever be a good indicator of when to sell AMD. ;) >

Agreed!

Chuck

A lot of us don't want to get into day trading type activities, to think you know more than the rest of the market is foolish IMO, and the tax consequences of selling at 90, before long term capital gains would turn that 400% gain I would have had into a 250% gain. Well even at 55, I'm down a little bit from the total tax consequences, but to sell before long term, means I require a 20% drop in stock price to be right. I don't think anyone here really expected a 20% drop, even if they thought there'd be some weakness.

Even with the motherboards, on a fundamental analysis, the stock was cheap in the 80s. The stock has defied reason as far as I can see, so we'll just have to wait and see. If AMD delivers on their promises for the year, the stock is incredibly cheap now, but there's no guarentee they'll do that.

Cirruslvr re <<What I find funny about this stock drop is that we all knew the infrastructure problems were there>>

The problems are worse than what I expected or worse than what was communicated from AMD.

Re <<I don't think this thread will ever be a good indicator of when to sell AMD. ;) >>

Well, the more negative the sentiment, the closer we are to the bottom. Those with negative sentiment have already sold. I think all the bad news have found their way in to AMD's price. I for one think the bottom is very close and look to buy back in soon.
