Re: "I came to this conclusion with tongue firmly planted in cheek. We have a self serving commentary here about the S80 vs. the E450 due to all of IBM's public "displacements" of Sun systems having come at the expense of E450's....hey, wasnt the guy who founded IBM named Watson? "

That's what I thought. For the record, you don't need a S80 to replace a E450. Even an IBM M80 outperforms a Sun E450. Obviously, the customer was ready for an upgrade and chose S80 over E10000. (probably because of Sun's upgrade cycle to Serengeti being late for them as well as a good deal from IBM) This is the natural consequence of the non synchronized upgrade cycles of the the two companies. This price/performance leapfrogging will continue. Sun should AT LEAST attain price /performance parity with USIII. Meanwhile, I think you should cut the crap. You are supposed to have real visibility in this industry. Right? So, I expect it from the amateurs on this thread. But - not from you............ Yes, Watson founded IBM. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with Gerstnerheimer syndrome. That's when you get old and your company FORGETS to pay you your earned pension and medical benefits. I adopted the WATSONYOUTH handle in deference to Mr. Watson who had real respect for his long time employees.
