In my experience, nobody know nada. The dangerous ones are the ones that seem really knowledgeable on some things and then you follow them in other areas where they really do know nada and you end up following them over the cliff.

I don't know the industry well enough either but I agree with your take on it. I would add that the previous cyclicality was really just an exaggerated version of the overall economy's cycle. That cycle seems to have been dampened for the time being by --- well, pick your savior, high technology, the Internet, Alan Greenspan, Jorj X. McKie ..... Whatever the cause, it does appear that the business cycle is at least a suppressed phenomenon for now. And with it, I suspect, the exaggerated semi cycle we came to know in the 90's.
