What disk is involved? Lumbar or cervical? I had a herniated disk in my neck pressing on a nerve that runs down the arm, the pain was.... constant. It got my attention every second. Fortunately, several months of physical therapy took care of it, once they diagnosed the problem (which took two months and an MRI), but for a few months I was cradling my left hand in my right and any motion sent jolts down my arm. Dear E, just got back from Ocean City, sorry I did not know you were in pain. Hope you are feeling better. I agree, pain specialists are excellent. I've never used one myself but I have had a lot of clients who did and it makes a lot of difference. Kind of what Gaugie complains about, regular doctors think you are some kind of weasel or low-life when you want narcotics. My theory is that if God did not want us to take narcotics, he would not have made opiate receptors in the brain. So they are a gift from God. Blessed, blessed anesthesia. (Maybe you would feel more comfortable if I said that it's just a wonderful coincidence. It is that.)
