what is the significance of children resembling their parents in terms of larger issues??
I'm not sure what you mean here. Once you get outside of information stored in DNA, then you move from gene theories (Natural Selection or Punctuated Equilibrium) to meme theories. The rules of reproduction for this information are different and so are the results.
TP

First of all, TP--Thank you for a sincere answer. I respect that accuracy takes a little time and effort.

I will try to suggest where I am sensing a difference here: You clearly have an evolutionary awareness (and I could probably say a great deal more without being mistaken). But I come at the whole God issue fromj a philosophical perspective. Now historical science (and evolution relies extensively on biological history) is unable to tap into more than (from an eternal perspective)--half an eye blink of time. To me that is like someone analyzing weather patterns for the last 50 years and considering that knowledge meaningful in terms of past and future history. His theory of weather knowledge would not include the ice ages (nor meteor strikes), and this lack of perspective would make most of his conjectures and extrapolations less accurate or reliable than they might have been.

Of course, all thinking is necessarily hampered by this reality. However, philosophy is a discipline that attempts to, (at least), grapple with such difficult issues. Even knowing (from our limited historical perspective) that much, of what we now think we know, will be discredited in a relatively short time...even this ought to inform our sincere attempts to uncover the Truth.
