The memory part of the 820E was completely revised. Among other things, all of the problems that prevented use of more than 2 RIMMs were resolved, and I believe that the 820E supports 4 RIMM sockets (still in a single channel I THINK). What impact the changes had on performance I can't say. But the posted Intel tests, which were not conducted or intended to be compared TO EACH OTHER, tested the 815E against the 2 years older 820 design, rather than the brand new 820E.
