Mutation Uncertainty
Opinions vary widely about what exactly constitutes a mutation and how they are produced varies widely.
How does one know that a change is not just an expression of an already present but hidden genetic characteristic?
Some even claim that the Cytoplash contains genetic coding capability and not the nucleus.

A mutation is a change to any genetic sequence either from a bad copy (perhaps the right chemical was not available in consentration at the time of cell division), virus, radiation damage, or something else I don't know about. Each cell contains what amounts to other cells inside them (mytochondria for animals, cloroplasts for plants). There can be changes to any part of the genetic information and it will be a mutation.
