It was pointed out by John Kenneth Gailbraith years ago that the philosophy of conservatives is based on the following astounding claims:

The rich don't have enough.
The poor have too much.

No. The philosophy is more along the lines of there is no too much in terms of individual wealth(there is no limit of personal wealth beyond which any increase should be confiscated by the government), but there is too much taxes and government control. It is also that even if some do struggle you should not steal from those who have more to give to those who have less.

The richest among us are far richer today than they were 20 years ago....

So if you are richer then me, and over the next twenty years that gap increases, it would then be ok for me to steal some of it from you because you have too much??

Tim

That's because they still WORK!, while so many of the poor sit with hand extended, looking for, no, demanding handouts. Of course they soak up $$$ that could go to the truly needy and disadvantaged.

We live in a capitalist society. We believe in a meritocracy. We reward the best, the brightest, the hardest working. And so we continue to reward human competitiveness and attract top talent the world over.
If you don't like it move to downtown Havana. I hear OUR DOLLAR goes a long way there.
