If you do a little digging, I assure you'll find there's nothing sinister going on here

I'll leave that up to KPMG. Not sure I would have (a) announced the "audit" versus just waiting for the results and announcing same; and (b) called it an "audit" versus a review, because the term "6-month audit" implies that KPMG will deliver an opinion on the 6/30/00 balance sheet and income statement taken as a whole.

OTOH, maybe there actually are some debatable items on Korean sales, which would be immaterial in a fairness opinion on overall L&H, but not immaterial in a review report of element(s) of a financial statement.
