Yaacov. are you serious?

I have said this for the past two years, the Dell is a thing of the past. Mr. Dell had the novel idea of selling
PC's thrugh the Net, when nobody else was doing it. No every
Tom, Dick and Harry is using the net.

what continent do you live on? only 5% of the world population uses the net. you're part of the 5%.

Dell has no service end,

have you ever read a Dell report? of course they have a service end and it is growing rapidly.

it has no market in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.

this is the kind of statement you'd expect from someone who has not studied this market for two years, not from someone who professes to know a lot

All the have is the US market and they are loosing the edge. CPQ is hard on their tail.

no, CPQ is not hard on Dell's tale. CPQ remains #1 worldwide. how can CPQ be hard on someone's tale unless you assume that someone already controls the market? Dell is hard on CPQ's tale and has been for two years. the market down the street enjoys bad attitudes

As a Dell share holder, as much as I hate to say this, these guys are really lost. Unless they do something fast, they will sink.

what would you suggest they do fast?

They can't go on for the next five years and blame the Y2K problem. Y2K is a thing of the past, they have must adress the problem or we will see Dell at 20's by the end of this year.

you don't live in Europe. this is the reason the Europeans are giving. you should complain to Europe. read a SAP report for comparison. fact remains that Europe is about 2 years behind the U.S. Europe may even fall behind Asia within two years in computing power.

Yaccov,

Re: CPQ is hard on their tail

Your posts give me a really good laugh. Just what exactly does this mean. Last I looked CPQ was ahead of DELL worldwide in many areas. Do you mean that CPQ, since blowing their US PC lead; since Pfiffer screwed up the financials, are now gaining ground on DELL's 50 million in web sales per day? CPQ on DELL's tail???? Its the other way around if you look at the real figures of growth.

Yaacov, since you are a rich astute investor, I would like to take the opportunity to tutor you in English. Although I am sure you are very bright, there are advantages to your learning to speak and write English well. I would be happy to help you for $300/hour with a $7,500 down payment. Please, advise.

Not so fast, bud.
Dell can still deliver.
Having tough time is not impotency.
I will rather not predict Dell demise.
I will base my investment based on Dell's, performance, behavior, and other realities.
Europe as you know is a tough market.
CPQ is doing well because of DEC base.
Dell is the new kid on the block.
I really have no problem with Dell's performance so far.
It is what they can do in the second quarter that matters.
Y2001 earnings will be a minimum of .87. In my book that is a 30% growth in earnings (1.3 * .61). I will rather sacrifice some revenue than cut the profits.
Other than the ESOP program and not enough disclosures I don't have any other serious problems with this company so far.
Till now I protected myself by writing LEAPs. I am buying them back (at a profit) so that I can take advantage of what I expect to be a raise to 54 before the end of the year.

Have you noticed the slump in Jan.,'03 LEAP prices.
For people like hjones, this is a great opurtunity. Buying DIM LEAP calls and selling ST calls.

After saying all this, I fully agree with you that Dell has to perform. Right now I am betting on their performing.

Good Lock. Shalom.
