Well....I know my opinion isnt popular, but I think KDDI is getting it's head handed to them. It's not just in the area of new subscriptions (the July numbers were terrible) but more importantly, Docomo is gaining all of the content deals. Playstation and AOL are two of the bigger deals I have read about but I know that their are dozens of smaller ones. I really havent seen these kinds of deals out of KDDI. Since data needs to be reformatted to fit mobilephone screens (at least for now), the content that a carrier lines up is going to matter. This leads to a vicious circle where more customers will continue to line up with Docomo which will in turn, lure developers. Last July, Docomo lowered prices drastically on handsets....I think that KDDI may have made a fatal mistake when they didnt respond.

KDDI needs to take advantage of it's strengths....once 1xrtt is launched they need to cut per minute prices to start luring retail customers and launch an aggresive campaign to get business customers who want wireless net access (from a laptop). The other thing they need is a delay in W-CDMA....if NTT mangages to launch 3G in May (even if it only at 64Kbps) I think KDDI will be in severe trouble.

IMO....the best thing that could happen for CDMA is progress in display technology. If people could surf the web directly, then none of the above would matter. The carrier with the best capacity and speed would win....
