Ha !

We'll see...

This is the high-tech industry no ?

"ACCELERATING RETURNS, First mover advantage, winner take ALL"...

Dell has NO chance to take on SUN. None !

IBM has good technology but too diffuse marketing and too many platforms...

HP has superb hardware, but is dragged doen by it's commodity printer business. If HP was spinning off the printer business, watch out everyone, especially SUN.

I will repaet for the hard of hering. No chance for Dell to move it's model & limited R&D to a proprietary, high reliability/high performance standard.

Win2K is a great product, but it's no Solaris 8.

HP-UX is superb, and a real threat.

Linux, get real, it has none of the advanced server-based facilities needed for high-performance computing.. Besides, it designed and maintained by committe, if it does not splinter, a la Unix..

We;ll see.

Take care
Jean

P.S. I would buy some SUN, just in case ! <g>

This is a structural change which will last atleast a decade. The big money is in the big servers, not big mainframes or PCs or small networks.
