>> free of discrimination in the workplace<<

Don't know where they don't have that right. It hasn't been taken away constitutionally.

>>the military<< I think they have the right to join the military.

>>recognized marriages<< Two people of the same sex can't get together and decide to call that marriage. That's not what it is by definition. I can't put 2 cars in a garage together and call that marriage by definition! Those two cars will not produce offspring, and neither will two gay people.

>>Gay couples should be able to enjoy the same legal rights as married heterosexual couples<< I am not aware of a special set of legal rights that were handed to me when I got married.

On marriage: this is a religious based act. But, you claim that republicans mix politics and religion, seems to me that so do democrats when it suits their needs.

"Gays have been oppressed under the same exclusionary atmosphere and are still excluded in some areas."

BS...The primary indicator for protected status in this country has always been economic. The information that I have is that Gays are doing quite well economically. Who is Gay and who is not, is none of my business. The only reason to make it my business is to push a political agenda or to seek validation.

Gays should have the ability to exercise their right to be free of discrimination in the workplace ...

Here the right of free association comes in conflict with your notions of fairness. FREE association wins. Plus, do you really want the Federal Government involved in EVERY hiring decision made by every private employer?!?!? How many new bureaucrat jobs would that require?
