Thanks for clarifying the nomenclature of "Beta" and "Volatility".

However most people use the two terms interchangeably.

If you are correct, Beta becomes a measure of the "volatility of the stock" vs the "volatility of the Dow". Since Intel is now a part of the Dow , and if the Beta is measured with respect to the Dow, you would expect Intel's Beta to have dropped a little.
