I used to pour bacon fat into a coffee can, and use that for cooking eggs, but that was before my cholesterol got above 200. Have an appointment for my semi-annual physical on September 6, looking forward to seeing what this new diet does to my cholesterol and triglycerides. Atkins claims it will go down. I know for a fact that my blood sugar levels are dropping, which is what got me motivated. I have lost over 10 pounds in a couple of weeks.

Speaking of rendered animal. I read somewhere that colonials used jars of bear fat as barometers. Apparently the changes in the solidification of animal oils is a function of temperature and pressure. I have no idea how you'd read it.

Gee, ma, the bear fat stalactites are gittin' a might long in the weather jar. Better go bring in the young'uns.
