Andreas,

Seems like with a "1.2GHZ very soon", Jerry/AMD is drawing a line in the sand regarding Intel's recent SERIES of paper launches since the analyst community has of yet been unwilling to call Intel on this issue. This may prove to be very effective and may be the reason for the recent deeper-than-expected price cuts by AMD--i.e., make some head room for the 1.2. August 28th could prove to be more interesting than we think.

Thoughts?,

Jim

Re: "- mustang at around end of the year" Ouch. Is that a slip? I guess it was 'Q4'... or maybe they feel it isn't necessary until then, given Willy's apparent delay, and the headroom left in the Tbird. "1.2 very soon" is good. And "1.2 with DDR RAM" comment implies Ali or 760 ready soon... October?

WOW!, thanks for a great summary.

It seems to me that 1.2 GHz will be out at the same time as the DDR solution, and that will be "soon".

Andreas,

Thanks for your summary of the ON24 - Jerry's Interview.

> 5 billion revenue this year (3.0 from microprocessor, 1.5 from flash)

Did he say $3.0billions revenue for this year from just the Microprocessors, or from the CPG?

If his revenue projection is just from the microprocessors, then it'd translate into about $2Billion CPG revenue in Q3+Q4 compared to $1.311B in Q1+Q2. That'd be about 53% increase over Q1+Q2'99!

If he meant CPG, then it'd be $1.69B in Q3+Q4 vs $1.311B in Q1+Q2.

$1.5B revenue from flash means he is expecting about $810Million Flash revenue in Q3+Q4. Flash revenues were $689Millions in Q1+Q2.

Everybody in unison:
VOLUME IS OUR VACCINE

:)

Boy, I must say, Jerry knows this industry inside and out, top to bottom.

TG

P.S. Now don't forget: "Volume is our vaccine" (a very prescient quote, that will determine AMD's future)!

Outstanding summary...thanks.

Folks, this is a dynamite interview with Jerry...a must for all longs.

Among his gems...he sees Moore's Law (processor speed doubles every 18 months) extending out "several more years...do I mean 3...do I mean 5...certainly 7, 10". In other words, using his 7 years--->in 2007 processor speed will equate to 32 Gigs!!!! Geez, I recall my first 8080 micro at 2 megahertz as being pretty darned fast.

After hearing that talk, I gotta hock the farm and buy some more now at 65 while I can before the rocket takes off.
