da cheif, Thankyou for your thoughts. It's going to take a little while to digest what you said. Good to see some posts on this thread again. I'm real interested in the stock market and the issues at stake. It will take some intelligent thought from people with open minds to consider the possibilities. Well da Cheif, After some consideration, that is one encouraging and positive outlook on the market!!! Would have liked to heard some comments from some of the other posters. Why not I ask myself? The are some concerns of course. Is there going to a real reduction in defense spending by the USA? Sure dumping Star Wars and Nuclear Arms races sounds like a sensible thing to do, but USA's presence in the world does demand a strong deterrent. Those Hi tech weapons are not cheap and the US Military have some high expectations to deliver...Win wars (difficult) with very low casualty rates (historically shown to be very difficult). I am not talking about the USA having to have a world "social conscience" either. Those high average living standards are sought after by other countries. One can only hope for the best... When you are talking about very large growth rates, small errors in calculations become very big errors. Can see some wild swings in the market on that score too. And there is always those unexpected expense items that occur now and again in any budget. There are many positive aspects I see in the modern on line stock market investing systems though. Good for average wage workers and good for the companies they work for. I've been on line investing now for a couple of years. Done well. I now think it's safe for me to read up some books on these subjects. I just bought two, both recommended on the clown threads Message 14103120 Message 14171222 rgds to all, pearly.

Don; I'm happy to see you posting on SI....and sharing your thoughts with us...Unfortunately, when I retired in '94 and began to manage my own retirement money, I listened too often to the doom and gloomers..they cost me a lot of opportunities.....Nevertheless, I bear no animosity toward anyone, and take the responsibility on myself.. Going forward, I hope to see things as they are, and will be..certainly you have had a good record of seeing through the smoke...thanks for the perspective. Regards, Bud
