Rambus settled with Hitachi because they knew they would lose the suit and become a worthless company. Yes, a very good reason to settle. Again, why didn't I think of that? Now it's all clear, thanks to you! By settling with Hitachi they now knew they would be able to open their wallets and pay Rambus a huge settlement fee plus royalties. How wonderful! Hitachi had a party that night and were dancing in the streets, and chanting, "we are so lucky we are going to now be able to pay Rambus because they settled with us and they don't have to worry about losing the suit and become a worthless company. No wonder Toshiba and OKI wanted in on the fun too! But wait, it will really be a super huge blast when Infineon helps Rambus from becoming a worthless company. I can now see it... I know the buzz words at Infineon are, "Did we Settle? Is it party time tonight?" I can hardly wait for MU and NEC to join in on the fun! PS.
