We pay, so that the poor, and ignorant, and disenfranchised, will not rise up and kill us in a revolution. Bread and circuses. Seems like the Romans tried that, too. No, that's not why we have welfare. It's because any one of us could be there, so it's for all of us if we need it, but only if we need it. Unfortunately, some people treat it not like a benefit, but as an entitlement. And telling us or intimating to us that they will rise up and kill us in a revolution is blackmail. Besides which, we still have our guns, the government hasn't taken them away yet, and anyway the government is on our side, and it's got more guns than anyone. These pathetic people on welfare would be squished like pathetic little grubs. Don't worry about it.
