When my father got my mother pregnant, he married her, and when he got out of the Navy (Korean war draft) he went back to college and then to dental school and she worked and supported him and the family until he graduated and got a good job as a dentist. My grandmother moved to New Orleans to babysit, and later he sent her a check every month to supplement social security. There's not a government in the world that can instill those values into someone who doesn't have them, whether conservative or liberal. It means doing the right thing whether it's easy or convenient or not.
