Jesus didn't ask the government to do it, he asked people to do it, and he did it himself without the assistance of government. That's the difference, that's the big difference here. The government safety net shouldn't be geared towards what the most generous member of society believes is fitting. If you believe more is needed, give more. Since I don't, I don't want to. If you force me to give because it suits your conscience, I think it's theft.
