NO creates fear.>>> >>And rightly so. No, Bobby don't stick your finger in the light socket.>> How about taking a positive approach. Be a lunatic. Just try to imagine what you might say and how you might say it to get the message across. >>No, Katie, you may not have Rice Crispy squares for all three meals.>> Ditto. >>No, Sally, you must look both ways before crossing the street.>> Ok, ok, I admit I have fallen down in this area. But there's always a really great, fun game of baseball going on to support a more positive association. >>Cmon. I read a book that said, "If provided ample choice and variety children will chose a balanced diet." That is pure crap and the people that wrote that book were paid to spout that nonsense. But I guess people manage to get paid for uttering all kinds of tripe. Sure, some kids will "choose wisely". Many, if not most, won't. I actually tried their advice to see - sure enough - it won't work. And it is terrible for some kids. Some impulses to gorge oneself are driven by the former rarity of high-calorie foods in nature. Boy, if you found a bunch of high calorie stuff to eat, dig in. Nature rewarded you. The basic biology of early hominids is completely out of whack with modern availability of food in first world countries. These biological impulses are now at odds with good health.>> Pure crap. We are all fools. Can't trust natural biological energy even if it kissed you. Nope. I say we create this crap from the definitions/labels, etc. Kids develop complexes over how they look and too often, they become slaves to what others think. NO lowers us. GO uplifts us. And we all can say how ridiculous and unrealistic it is to have "NO Fear", but by God we actually become experts at creating/supporting and sustaining "NO" fear. The fear of "NO." How dare you jump into the River!! Why can't you just sit on the sidelines and be nice?? How dare you think you can take those kinds of RISK!!!! For RISK & GO is the antithesis of NO. Peace. .
